A 10 Step Skin Care routine? 10 Steps? I am currently coming from a three-step routine… Don't worry you are not the only one! But you know what? The Korean Skin Care routine only takes about 15 minutes, as not all steps are performed daily. And it's really worth it! Getting porcelain-like skin is all about cleansing, targeting skin issues, and protecting your skin. This is exactly what the 10 step Korean skin routine does. So let's see how you can achieve a flawless & radiant skin:
1. Make-up Remover & Oil Cleanser
First things first: Remove your makeup with an oil-cleanser. Oil-cleansers help you get rid of stubborn eye makeup, sebum and soot. Massage the oil-cleanser over your dry face and neck, then add some lukewarm water to emulsify. Massage again and rinse. Koreans believe that massaging their face increases the circulation, resulting in a brighter skin.
2. Water-based Cleanser
Now we get to the second part of the double cleanse, which is necessary to achieve a clean skin. Use a water-based cleanser to remove remaining dirt and impurities.
3. Exfoliation
Time to exfoliate: carefully scrub dead skin away to achieve a soft and supple skin, like a baby's butt. Focus on the areas that could use some extra exfoliation, like enlarged pores on your cheeks or blackheads on your nose. It is enough to use facial scrubs 2-4 times a month. When it comes to exfoliation, most Korean women believe less is more.
4. Toner
After this intense cleaning session, your skin could use some toning. Toners soften, moisturize and prep your skin to better absorb essences and serums. They also restore your skin's pH level. Simply dispense your toner onto a cotton pad and gently wipe your whole face and neck.
5. Essence
Get ready for the heart of the Korean skin care routine – Essences. They are a mixture between toners and serums. Essences speed up the process of skin repair and cell renewal. They hydrate your skin and make it look brighter and more even. Directly apply the essence to your freshly toned skin with your hands and pat it in.
6. Serum
Time to perfect your skin with a serum! Serums help you cure your skin evils – dull and uneven skin tones, sunspots, blemishes, fine lines & wrinkles. Apply it the same way than before, it's all about the tap.
7. Masks
We already talked about the heart of the Korean skin care routine, now we get to its soul. Masks are a twice-a-week ritual, brightening, revitalizing and plumping your skin. Their secret? They force your skin to absorb nutrients and moisture better. Put the mask on and chill out for 15-20 minutes, and don't forget to take a Selfie
8. Eye Cream
This step eliminates wrinkles and puffiness, taking years off your look! Using your ring finger, gently tap around your eye area, never rub.
9. Moisturizer
Are you kidding, another layer? Yes, Korean women are all about layering! Hydration is the key to a dewy and glowing skin. Pat the moisturizer on your face and neck, in the morning and evening.
10. BB Cream Makeup – Sunscreen
BB Cream replaces your makeup – it covers up your blemishes and evens out your skin tone. With its included sunscreen, it is the No. 1 solution to prevent your skin from premature aging! Even if you're going out only for a few minutes or there is no sun, always apply sunscreen to shield your skin from harmful UV rays. All BB and CC creams provide UV protection. Apply every morning and reapply throughout the day if needed.
